Sizing
There are many ways to size a jump rope, and many factors come into play such as personal preference, arm length, and difference in jumping technique. The easiest way to size a jump rope is to find one you like at the gym or from a friend, and then measure yours to match. Hopefully this reference helps key you in and allows you to find a jump rope length you like.
We will start off with a very basic sizing suggestion:
First stand one foot on the rope. Then pull the cable tight with the handles vertical.
If the handles extend past the shoulder the rope is typically too long and it is recommended that it should be shortened.
Beginner to intermediate athletes will usually find that between the top of the shoulder and the armpit is a great starting point for sizing the rope.
Athletes who are very proficient with double unders will often use a rope that reaches just under the armpit.
After determining the length, trim off the extra cable. It is recommended to leave a little extra just in case small changes need to be made to the length of the rope. You can always size smaller, but you can't size longer so make sure to test the length out thoroughly before making the cut.
Before jumping, make certain that the grommets are firmly tightened down.
